Panama metro line 1: Analysis of CO 2 emissions from 2015 to 2017. Principles for an eco-transportation city
This article presents an analysis of CO 2 emissions in the Panama Metro Line 1 (PML1) performed using the APTA methodology. The first section of this document presents a brief description of the Panama Metro line 1 and its current operational parameters. Moreover, the document presents a practical application of APTA methodology to determine the estimated CO 2 of PML1. Finally, a comparison with previous works of the Panama Railway Engineering Research Group about estimated CO 2 of PML1 for 2015, 2016 and 2017. The paper presents a set of a conclusion and future development lines in the topic covered. This article presents an analysis of CO 2 emissions in the Panama Metro Line 1 (PML1) performed using the APTA methodology. Conflict Resolution in the Electricity Sector - The Experts Panel of Chile
One of the main challenges facing the electricity sector worldwide is the design of efficient markets. In particular, the mechanisms used to solve regulatory conflicts are a crucial element of a regulatory regime and a major determinant of the risks borne by private investors. We use the Chilean experience to analyze the evolution of mechanisms for conflict resolution within the electricity sector. We propose a theoretical framework based on bargaining theory to explain the behavior of market agents. This methodological approach is used to explain the evolution of conflict resolution following the introduction of the Experts Panel in 2004, as well as to explain the reduction in the number of conflicts. The results can also be applied to other electricity markets, leading to future market design proposals and governance improvements. One of the main challenges facing the electricity sector worldwide is the design of efficient markets. Railway Engineering: Timetable Planning and Control, Artificial Intelligence and Externalities
This chapter is a case study of the dissemination of railway engineering research in Latin America developed by a railway engineering research group. The leader of the group is a female researcher. The
authors aim to inspire to other women researchers in Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries
who are trying to develop research in IT areas, many times facing serious difficulties, incomprehension,
and great challenges. This chapter is divided in set sections like introduction, background, development
of railway engineering research. This third section is divided into subsections like timetable planning
and trains control, characterization of Panama metro line 1, dwelling times, fuzzy logic, artificial intelligence, social-economics railway externalities, and environmental railway externalities. The fourth
section presents the results of the relationship between research activity and teaching of railway engineering obtained in this case study. Finally, the authors present a brief vision about future and emerging
regional trends about railway engineering projects. This chapter is a case study of the dissemination of railway engineering research in Latin America developed by a railway engineering research group. The leader of the group is a female researcher. The

Panama Metro Bus System and Metro Line 1: An externalities analysis of CO2 emissions spectre
In recent years there is has been a need to reduce traffic congestion with the objective of contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions or air pollution. This argument could be seen as a new tariff or tax to make society more aware and contribute to the care of the environment. Externalities are those effects of the production or consumption of some agents in order to producing or consuming others, for which no payment is made. In this sense, this paper presents some estimation of the socio-environmental externalities of the Metro Bus system and Panama Metro Line 1 for the years 2007, 2010 and 2015. These externalities correspond to variables such as: reducing of CO2 emissions and decreasing in the occupation of urban roads, among others. In others words, this paper presents an American Public Transportation Association (APTA) standards practical development about the C02 emissions estimation in Panama City.In recent years there is has been a need to reduce traffic congestion with the objective of contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions or air pollution.
Electro mobility in Panama: A review
Global initiatives against climate change have recommended that the world must make a change in its mobility technologies, as the transport sector is responsible for 21% of global emissions, this concern has accelerated in promoting the various options for more transport efficient and cleaner fuels. One of the approaches that the major international organizations have had is to promote electric mobility, which has evolved in recent years, in which the capacities and energy densities of the batteries have been improved, reducing their manufacturing costs. The objective of this work is to conduct a review of the state of the art about electric vehicles in Panama and identify the potential impact of high electric vehicle penetration in reducing CO2 emissions and electricity consumption, which must be adapted to produce the required energy in a sustainable and efficient way. Finally, country of energy policies are identified expected to encourage renewable generation such as solar and wind energy that are planned to be built in Panama, promoting the generation of clean energy to contribute to sustainable development.GGlobal initiatives against climate change have recommended that the world must make a change in its mobility technologies, as the transport sector is responsible for 21% of global emissions, this concern has accelerated in promoting the various options for more transport efficient and cleaner fuels.
